Jeder darf seinen Senf dazugeben: Restaurantkritiken

Burritos!
To continue with the food theme, let me introduce you to a site that Scott came across today: Burritophile , where "it's all in your hands." Burrito lovers can read and write reviews here about their favorite Mexican eatery.

Gourmet Blogger

Transitory
we were an industrious species
our lights strung the planet with hampers and nests
in thin steel pods we filed
across expanses we drained and fertilized
to grow our rows to feed our appetite
for hatch and crosshatch
to speculate the atom
we built an engine blue as fire
it swarmed the seven continents
it oversaw the clouds to the round horizon
its moving finger weighed divided
scripting the news of our dominion

Hallo Mama! Erinnerst Du Dich?

Kommentar: "You look so domestic!" Hausfraulich schau ich aus. Dann mal ran!

For the first time in quite a while I went to a Poetry Santa Cruz reading again: John Balaban and Amber Cloverdale Sumrall. It doesn't look like Joe Stroud is willing to lead another workshop this spring, but the reading & meeting some of the usual suspects again last night reminded me how satisfying writing can be. After all, the PSC guys are nice enough to list me as an author on the Poetry Santa Cruz Website. Now, if I could only live up to that honor...

My yoga class started again yesterday. I hadn't realized how much I'd missed it. Before we left the instructor read this poem by Derek Walcott, a timely reminder before Valentine's that love needs to start, and must end with loving yourself: LOVE AFTER LOVE

The time will come
when, with elation
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror
and each will smile at the other's welcome,
and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you
all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.

One of my favorite poems of all times with the artwork it refers to, W. H. Auden's "Musée des Beaux Arts"
