The Atlantic Monthly has an article in the January issue about surfing Munich's Eisbach ("
Munich’s Malibu"). It's cute that they placed it in the travel section, complete with advice on where to stay (Vierjahreszeiten) (!) and where to dine (Gastsätte Bavaria) (?) You only find a teaser online, the first paragraph of the article, but on the other hand you can watch a slideshow on the web that the paper version obviously can't provide. Short, fun article written by a surfer dude called Mike living in Berlin.
Mike's blog is interesting to me, since he is an expat like me, except the other way around. It should turn the whole cultural differences can-of-worms on its head. Strangely enough, though, I've been in the States for so long that I actually share his perspective on at least some aspects of German life (Chinapfanne, "Märchenkönig").
